Does music matter?

The other day I ran across this article. It's from the UK's Observer/Guardian and it's a conversation about music moderated by Jarvis Cocker of Pulp and a few other very cool musicos. In some cases, I think they come across a bit like old people who are beyond the poit of being impressed with new music, but for the most part I think it's a valid way of looking at the music world today. Especially their take on music in advertising.
